The report looks at the first 250 cases The first Ockenden Report is thus an important and welcome – if deeply troubling – document. It gives us confidence that the final report, due later in 2021, will further provide a compelling case to redouble efforts to implement the ongoing Maternity Transformation Programme across England. The Ockenden Report states “there must be robust pathways in place for managing women with complex pregnancies”, and states that there is an urgent need to create regional hub and spoke models to ensure that specialist centres and clinicians can be engaged promptly where appropriately, whether through discussion and support or through referral to a specialist tertiary centre.
